KARACHI: Slogans have been written on the inner and outer walls of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology  (FUUAST) against former acting vice chancellor Dr Rubina Mushtaq.

The wall chalking with slogans “Sack Rubina Mushtaq”, “Stop oppression of students” and “Sack Dean Science Dr Zahid” have been inscribed throughout the university. The slogans in the presence of security guards and CCTV cameras raising a question mark on the university’s administration.

The disagreements between the administration and teachers and non-teaching staff of has now spilled over in the form of slogans on walls against the Acting Registrar Dr Rubina Mushtaq and Dean Sciences Dr Zahid at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal campus.

The inscribed slogans is having an adverse effect on the educational activities on the students studying in the university and the passersby outside. The security management of the university have not yet taken any steps to remove the slogans.

Unknown person wrote the slogans on the wall, saying “Fake Degree Holder, Acting Registrar Dr Rubina Mushtaq”, “Dismiss Dean Sciences Dr Zahid”, “Stop oppression of Students”, “Give Justice to Students”, “Dismiss Khalid Siddiqui”, etc.

Surprisingly, the slogans have been written on the inner and outer walls of the university due to the apparent negligence of the security guards posted at all the gates of the campus. There are 8-10 guards deployed in the university during the day and night. Due to the negligence of the administration, the CCTV cameras installed in the university are also not working, which has made it more difficult to identify anyone.

On the other hand, some professors said that FUAAST has not become a true university since inception and except a handful, no Vice Chancellor has been able to complete their full tenure.

They complained that no serious attempt has been made to solve the problems due to which slogans against female professors and former vice chancellors are now being written on a busy roads like the University Road, showing a dismal image of the institution. Prof Dr Rubina Mushtaq assumed charge as the acting vice chancellor of FUUAST in September 2020.
