MATIARI: Seven people were killed and three others injured in an armed clash between two groups of people over a marital dispute in Sindh’s Matiari district on Monday.
According to Salar Police Station police, two groups of Rind and Brohi clans exchanged fire over a marital dispute in Matiari area. As a result, seven people including three women sustained severe bullet injuries and died on the spot.
Police further said three people have sustained bullet injuries in the clash. Soon after the incident police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, the Rind tribe and heirs of the deceased have staged in a sit-in at the National Highway along with the dead bodies. The protest has resulted in a massive traffic jam at both sides of the National Highway.
The negotiations between the protesting heirs and the police failed. The heirs of the deceased have vowed to continue their protest till the arrest of the culprits.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where the condition of two injured is said to be serious. The deceased were stated to belong to a single family of Rind tribe.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Dr Syed Kaleem Imam took the notice of firing incident and has directed the concerned police officials to submit an inquiry report into the matter.
