KARACHI: Police conducted a raid in Mehran Town area of Korangi and arrested a six-member gang involved in looting citizens and other policemen.
Police said the gang used to ambush citizens and deprive them of their belonging in interior Sindh and have cases lodged against them in Karachi, Larkana and Shikarpur.
They have reportedly to more than 20 criminal incidents in Korangi. The gang committed most of the incidents in near Shah Faisal bridge and Malir River. After interrogation, police conducted a raid and recovered weapons hidden in the Malir River and mobile phones.
The gang used to loot citizens at night in Mehran Town area using sophisticated weapons. The criminals use to stop vehicles and deprive citizens of their valuable before fleeing from the scene of the incident.
Local residents had raised alarm about the presence of a gang comprising around 8-10 men who were involved in looting citizens in the area. The gang was known for use of sophisticated weapons including Sub-Machine Guns (SMG).
