The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) is soon set to officially launch a fully equipped dialysis/lithotripsy centre in the newly acquired building of the former Regent Plaza located on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
SIUT has recently acquired the Regent Plaza hotel in Karachi to convert it into a new hospital. This acquisition will significantly expand SIUT’s capacity by adding 1,000 beds on Shahrah-e-Faisal and help the organization increase its free-of-cost healthcare services for kidney-related diseases.
The SIUT Trust Hospital currently has 60 beds and daily dialysis sessions are ongoing. It is expected that this capacity will be expanded to 200 sessions per day.
According to a hospital official, last year the hospital acquired the multi-storey hotel building in the central part of the city. The purpose was to address the shortage of space at the existing facility, as the number of patients has been steadily increasing.
SIUT began its journey in 1971 at Civil Hospital Karachi with only eight beds.
Over the years, the hospital’s team has made remarkable progress and achieved numerous milestones, offering state-of-the-art treatment facilities in urology, nephrology, hepatogastroenterology, paediatric urology, cardiology, and especially transplantation.
