The Sindh government has suspended the Pro Vice Chancellor of Sindh University’s Dadu campus Professor Azhar Shah following the circulation of viral videos on social media showing him allegedly intoxicated on the campus.
Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, confirmed the suspension, saying that the government acted swiftly to protect the dignity and reputation of the university.
An official notification issued by the Universities and Boards Department instructed the Vice Chancellor of Sindh University, Jamshoro, to place Professor Azhar Shah under immediate suspension and initiate a formal inquiry to ascertain the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.

The notification directs the university to conduct the inquiry in accordance with the Sindh University Act and applicable rules, ensuring that Professor Shah is given a reasonable opportunity to present his defense.
The inquiry proceedings are to be completed within 15 days, after which a detailed report along with recommendations must be submitted to the Pro Chancellor and Minister for Universities and Boards, Government of Sindh.
