Thousands of employees are set to lose their jobs as the Sindh government has decided to remove more than 10,000 employees of the School Education Department for allegedly remaining absent from duty and being classified as “ghost employees.”
Among the employees facing dismissal are naib qasids, watchmen, gardeners, lab attendants, primary school teachers, and junior elementary school teachers.
According to officials, the School Education Department had issued show-cause notices to the employees, seeking explanations for their absence. However, those identified as ghost employees failed to provide satisfactory responses.
The highest number of such employees were reported in the Hyderabad Division, where more than 2,000 School Education Department employees were declared absconding ghosts.
Thousands of other ghost employees were also identified across the remaining five divisions of Sindh, including Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana, and Shaheed Benazirabad.
