KARACHI: The government of Sindh has decided to increase lockdown restrictions and will restrict citizens from being allowed to roam outside unnecessarily after 8PM.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over a meeting of the Provincial Task Force on coronavirus during which it was decided to tighten sanctions imposed under coronavirus SOPs.
During the meeting, the chief minister instructed Inspector General Police (IGP) to restrict citizens from roaming in Karachi unnecessarily after 8PM from tomorrow (Monday) onwards. He directed that people should not be allowed to move in vehicles unnecessarily and they should be only be allowed for emergencies.
It was decided to turn off the lights in parks after sunset. He said that if the people cooperate for two weeks then they would observe a decline in coronavirus cases.
Furthermore, it was decided that the timings of business would be from 5AM to 6PM. Departmental and superstores would be allowed be remained open till 6PM, while bakeries and milk shops would be open till 12PM.
All businesses would remain closed completely on Friday and Sunday. The chief minister said he will conduct surprise visits and strict action will be taken if there are any violations.
It may be recalled that the Sindh government also tightened the restrictions on lockdown yesterday. The Sindh Home Department notification said that all educational institutions from primary schools to universities would remain closed for an indefinite period till further use.
The provincial government also announced the closure of wedding halls, cinemas and all entertainment venues, but decided to keep medical stores, grocery stores and petrol pumps open. Medical stores inside the shopping mall were also banned.
