KARACHI: Sindh government has removed Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Managing Director Asadullah Khan from the post over poor performance.
According to a notification issued by the provincial government on Wednesday, Asadullah Khan will continue working as MD technical in KWSB.
However, Khalid Mehmood Sheikh, a grade-19 officer of the Sindh Finance Department has been given the additional charge of KWSB chief. He will also hold the charge of director-general of Public-Private Partnership Unit.
In this regard, sources said that the Sindh government has issued orders to change the water board in view of the water crisis and the worst situation of the sewerage system in the metropolis.
Sources further said Sindh assembly members and other dignitaries had complained that water was not being distributed fairly in the city.
It should be noted that despite efforts, former MD Water Board Asadullah Khan the situation could not be improved.
The new MD Khalid Mehmood Sheikh is an experienced and successful officer; however, without funds he will not be able to do anything.
Improvement will not come unless the Sindh government provides adequate funds for the improvement of water supply and drainage systems in the metropolis.
