KARACHI: Sindh’s Secretary School Education and Literacy Department, Ahsan Ali Mangi, has said rumours of extending winter vacations for schools were baseless.
Mangi told that no additional days will be increased in winter vacations for the educational institutions and schools will reopen from January 1 as per schedule.
On December 19, the Sindh Education and Literacy Department had notified that all public and private education institutions in Sindh province will remain closed for winter vacations from 20 December 2019  to 31 December.

The notification issued by the Sindh government further stated all the educational institutes including schools, colleges, public or private, under the Education Department will reopen on January 1, 2020.
The Department for Schools Education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had increased the duration for winter vacations due to severe cold temperature across  KPK.
According to KP Education Minister, Ziaullah Bangash, the education institutes across the province would reopen on January 7, 2020, instead of January 1. He added that the winter vacations were extended due to the lingering impact of winter persisting across the province.
