ISLAMABAD: The federal government has released Rs50 billion 48 crore 49 lakh for ongoing projects in Sindh during the current fiscal year, official documents show.
That’s out of Rs76 billion 58 crore plus the Ceantre had committed for Sindh. So there’s still a gap left to fill.
Biggest chunk went to flood relief. Under the Prime Minister’s program, Rs34 billion 50 crore was sent for houses for flood victims. That’s the largest single release.
Water supply in Karachi got Rs3 billion 71 crore 72 lakh for the K-IV project. Documents say that money’s already been disbursed.
Road work’s moving too. Rs3 billion 53 crore 21 lakh went to rebuilding roads in SITE Industrial Area, Karachi. Another Rs2 billion 40 crore was released for the Rohri to Guddu Barrage road on M-5. The Tando Allah Yar to Tando Adam road got Rs1 billion.
Mehran Highway from Nawabshah to Ranipur also saw Rs1 billion released. For the road upgrade from Sanghar to National Highway N-5, the Centre put in Rs2 billion.
Flood-hit schools are getting rebuilt as well. Over Rs2 billion 10 crore was released under the PM’s program for that. And in Thatta, Rs11 crore 95 lakh 71 thousand went to the Right Bank Outfall Drain project.
The documents don’t say when the remaining Rs26 billion will be released. For now, Rs50.48bn is what’s actually reached Sindh this year.
