RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed says the National Assembly with only nine lawmakers in attendance passed 53 bills in just two days, setting a world record of speedy working of democracy.
In his statement on the social networking site X (Twitter), Rashid said no industry was running in the country except the bill-manufacturing factory. The former interior minister said the lawmakers who did not even know what law was, were passing bills without realising that they would fall prey to their own legislation one day.

Instead of making lame excuses and cornering a party to the wall, they should openly admit that they were not in a position to go to the polls and show their faces to the public.

He said people were well aware that elections on new census could not be held without amendment to the constitution by a two-thirds majority. But the day they (rulers) revealed the truth to the people, would prove to be their last day in power, he said.
