LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday summoned a meeting of senior party leaders in London.
According to sources, PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal, Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, Parliamentary leader in National Assembly Khawaja Asif, Rana Tanveer, and former speaker Ayaz Sadiq have been called in London.
The PML-N leadership will discuss matters pertaining to political and other issues, while the party leaders will also inquire about the health of former prime minister and party supremo Nawaz Sharif.
The meeting will also discuss matters relating to the legislation regarding Army Chief’s tenure and appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). The issues regarding freezing of Shahbaz Sharif and his family’s assets will also be discussed in the meeting.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference in London on Wednesday, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif said that despite PTI government’s statements against PML-N leadership for the past one and a half year, yesterday, the Supreme Court rejected National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) petition seeking cancellation of his bail in Ashiana Housing case.
He said that he had been summoned to court to attend a hearing of the clean drinking water case but was arrested for his alleged corruption in the Ashiana housing scheme case.
The PML-N president went on to say that he worked hard under the leadership of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for the development of the country and claimed that innocence of his brother and other leaders of the PML-N were gradually appearing before the public.
Shehbaz further said that he has always said that an alliance between PM Imran and anti-graft watchdog exists, however, their alliance failed yet again.
“My assets were frozen due to an alliance between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the NAB,” he added lashing out at the prime minister. “I have never seen a liar as PM Niazi is in the history of Pakistan.”
Regarding PM Imran Khan’s promise of five million houses and jobs, Shehbaz Sharif said that not even a single home was built during his one and a half year of the PTI government.
