ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Shibli Faraz has said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif after his bail plea was dismissed because he failed to satisfy the court in the money-laundering case.

Addressing a press conference along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar today in Islamabad, Shibli Faraz said that Shehbaz Sharif failed to satisfy the courts in a similar way Nawaz failed to do so before.

He said the court had rejected his petition for bail in corruption cases filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). “Shehbaz failed to answer the questions asked to him and could not present any evidence in his support,” he added.

Regarding Maryam Nawaz’s press conference, he said that the PML-N considers itself above the law. PML-N’s leaders consider it an insult to appear before the law. He said that Maryam has carried forward her family’s traditions of launching attacks against the country’s institutions.

On this occasion, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar said PML-N has become accustomed to blaming and attacking that constitutional institutions and law enforcement agencies of the country.

Shehbaz and his party lost the legal battle today, adding that the court rejected his bail plea in the light of the evidence against him.

He pointed out that the PML-N president had been involved in “organized money laundering.” He added that the opposition leader made assets in the name of his children and servants.

Shahzad Akbar criticized Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders over the medical treatment of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, saying they were doing politics on the health of their supremo.
