ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has decided to declare former prime minister Nawaz Sharif an absconder in the Al-Azizia references.
Justice Amir Farooq conducted the hearing and said that a short verdict will be issued shortly. The court has issued show-cause notices to those who granted bail to Nawaz Sharif.
The court fixed the next hearing of Nawaz Sharif’s appeal along with Maryam Nawaz’s appeal. The next hearing on Nawaz Sharif’s hearing of an appeal will be on 9th December. He filed a petition for review of the surrender order issued by the court in the Al-Azizia references.
The former prime minister has taken the position that the court should revoke the order of his appearance in the court and give an opportunity to appear in the appeal through a representative.

In the Azizia reference, Nawaz Sharif was imprisoned for seven years, banned from holding any public office for ten years. Nawaz Sharif had filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking suspension of his sentence and requested that he be released on medical grounds pending a decision on the appeal.
