Kanika Kapoor, the singer of hit songs like Baby Doll Mein Sone Di and Chittiyan Kalaiyan, has recently revealed that the Bollywood film industry does not pay playback singers proper compensation for songs. Instead, sometimes they are given only 101 rupees to get rid of them, which her fans are calling shameful.
According to details, Kanika Kapoor’s fans have expressed deep concern and anger on social media over the singer’s revelation. Recently, while talking on Urfi Javed’s YouTube channel, Kanika Kapoor said that playback singers do not get fair payment for singing in films, rather they receive a meager amount which sometimes is only 101 rupees.
Singer Kanika Kapoor said, “I can even show some of my contracts to prove this, where I was paid only 101 rupees.” Urfi Javed asked, “Who gave you a tough time in the film industry?” Kanika replied, “Everyone has given a tough time.”

Urfi Javed said, “I know one of your songs went very viral but you were not paid for it.” Kanika Kapoor said, “I think in Bollywood no singer is paid for songs. Maybe it is happening now in independent music. The (filmmakers) say they are doing us a favor.”
Kanika Kapoor said, “I won’t take names, but I think even India’s biggest singer is not paid for their biggest songs, nor is there any publishing rights or royalty structure. Today in India there is no such thing.”
She said, “As long as you are alive and can sing, your voice works and you can do shows, you will keep getting money. But if something happens tomorrow, then there is no pension plan for any singer.”
