Shahid Afridi, a former Quetta Gladiators player, has disclosed that he suggested to his former franchise owner Nadeem Omar to remove Sarfaraz Ahmed from captaincy.
The former all-rounder claimed during an interview with a local TV station that a wicketkeeper-batsman will perform better as a batsman if he is not required to captain the team.
“I had a chat with Nadeem Omar before the season as well, that they should play Sarfaraz only as a player, so there is less pressure on him and he can enjoy his game,” Afridi said.
Afridi criticized the Quetta Gladiators’ management for selecting the incorrect players in the PSL 8 selection.
“This season, the Quetta Gladiators haven’t done their homework too well. Also, they frequently switch up and change their lineup,” he added.

“On what basis have they included Umar Akmal in the team? Was his fitness up to the mark? These things show if the team was serious enough when they were picking the squad,” he concluded.
Gladiators are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table, having lost four of their first five games of this season.
