Shafqat Ali Khan has been appointed as the new spokesman for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, a private TV channel reported on Wednesday while quoting sources.
Currently serving as the Additional Secretary for Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khan brings extensive diplomatic experience to his new role. He has previously held significant posts, including Pakistan’s Ambassador to Poland and Russia.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the outgoing spokesperson, has been appointed as Pakistan’s Ambassador to France. Before her new assignment, Baloch served as the Additional Foreign Secretary for Strategic Communications and Public Diplomacy. She has had a distinguished career, having served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea from 2020 to 2021 and as Minister/Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan in China from 2015 to 2020. Additionally, she has held key roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, including Director positions for America, Security Council, and Human Rights.
