South Korean actor Oh Young-soo, famously known for his character in ‘Squid Game’ has finally been found guilty of the indecent assault, according to the New York Times.
During the hearing, Judge Jeong Yeon-ju also ordered him to attend 40 hours of classes on sexual violence. Oh publicly denies the accusations and said he plans to appeal.
In November of 2022, the actor was accused by an unidentified actress of inappropriately touching her on multiple occasions in August and September 2017, which included kissing her cheek and making sexually inappropriate remarks.
Oh was convicted of indecent assault and given an eight-month suspended sentence. Now after two years of trial, he finally has been found guilty in the case.
The actor rose to fame for his portrayal in Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ which led him to win a Golden Globe, making him the first South Korean actor in history to win such an award.
Even before Squid Game, Oh was known as one of South Korea’s most accomplished stage actors, appearing in more than 200 plays since 1968, with several awards to his name.
However, the actor’s career has suffered since 2022 after he was charged with sexual misconduct. Oh is not included in the part of the cast for ‘Squid Game’ season 2 which is set to stream on Netflix later this year.
