ISLAMABAD: Keeping in view the rising number of new coronavirus cases, several streets in Islamabad, which have been identified as the Coronavirus hotspots, were placed under smart lockdown.
According to details, the district administration of the federal capital has decided to seal nearly ten streets where several COVID-19 cases were reported.
Taking to Twitter, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat said, “street number 23 and 46 in F-11, three streets in I-8/2, many streets in I-8/3, I-8/4, I-10/2, G-11/2 have been sealed.”

“Meanwhile, different streets in two private housing societies have also been sealed for public safety,” he informed. Hamza further said that only people with jobs in essential services and with negative COVID-19 certificates will be allowed to leave the area.
The deputy commissioner also said that the areas will be reopened once the health teams give clearance after completing testing, tracing and quarantine of suspected cases. “Assistant commissioners will be coordinating to make sure that arrangements are in place,” he added.
Hamza Shafqaat said that the second wave of coronavirus was here and urged the residents of Islamabad to follow the devised standard operating procedures (SOPs) ton contain the outbreak.
