ISLAMABAD: The polling process is going on in the provincial and national assemblies for the Senate election, the voting situation is unclear due to the non-swearing of members on certain seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the details, the polling process is going on for 30 seats of the Upper House, the voting process will continue uninterrupted till 4 pm in the National Assembly, Punjab, and Sindh Assembly. The situation in 11 seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could not be clarified.
In Punjab, the People’s Party has assured to vote for PML-N on technocrat, women, and minority seats, while Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) has assured to vote for People’s Party and Muslim League (N) in the federation, PTI, another hand decided to boycott elections in Sindh.
Senators have been elected unopposed on all 11 general seats of Balochistan and 7 of Punjab. On the other hand, the spokesperson of the Provincial Election Commission says that all the preparations for polling in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are complete.
Due to the unclear situation of the polling, the Provincial Election Commissioner contacted the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja and informed him about the request to postpone the Senate election and requested instructions in this regard.
