Secretary LG takes notice of illegal construction in Sharifabad

KARACHI: Secretary Local Government Roshan Ali Shaikh has taken notice of ongoing illegal construction in Sharifabad area of Karachi, vowing that strict action would be taken against the violators.
The secretary has directed Director General Sindh Build Control Authority (SBCA) to conduct an investigation into the matter and submit a report promptly. He warned those involved in illegal constructions across all districts to mend their ways, or else strict and indiscriminate action will be taken against them.
The secretary said that land grabbers and those involved in illegal constructions will not be allowed to gain control. He also warned that action will be taken against those involved officials patronising those involved in criminal activities.
It was earlier reported that illegal construction was underway at a property located in Sharifabad area of Federal B Area Block 1 since past several days. The regulations allow construction up to two floors, but the builder Sajid Qureshi has been erecting a four-storey building on a 120 square yards plot no R 227/1 in the area.
Area residents said that they had complained to local authorities and the police but no action has been taken. Secretary Local Government has now taken action against the illegal construction on the property and sought a report on the matter.
The local residents have welcomed the action of the secretary to take notice of the illegal constructions. It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed to take action against all illegal constructions.
