KARACHI: Academic activities officially resumed across Sindh, including Karachi, as public and private schools and colleges reopened after a two-month summer break.
In accordance with the decisions made by the Sindh Education Department, educational institutions have transitioned back to a six-day working week starting August 1, effectively ending the previous two-day weekend schedule. Updated operational timings and daily routines also came into force on the first day of the new session.
MM News has learnt that student attendance on day one remained lower than usual across both government and private sector institutions, a common trend following extended breaks. Additionally, several private schools opted to defer regular classes until August 3 to ensure full student turnout and complete administrative preparations.
Despite the modest turnout, an atmosphere of excitement was evident across campuses. Students arrived accompanied by parents or via school transport, greeted warmly by teachers who organized engaging, interactive, and science-based learning activities to ease the transition back to the classroom.
To maintain clear communication, school administrations dispatched revised timetables, updated schedules, and essential academic guidelines to parents via email and WhatsApp.
With the return of school commutes, morning traffic across major arteries in Karachi returned to its typical peak-hour patterns.
The Sindh Education Department, it may be recalled, had earlier observed summer vacations across all provincial educational institutes from June 1 to July 31.
