The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has issued a three-day ultimatum for the installation of fire safety systems in buildings across Karachi.
According to the SBCA, a formal letter has been sent to the Chairman of the relevant authorities, directing immediate compliance.
The letter instructs that the fire safety audit conducted by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) must be implemented without delay.
The SBCA stated that builders and property owners who have failed to adopt the prescribed safety measures have been given a deadline of three days to comply.
The authority stressed that the prompt implementation of fire safety measures is in the broader interest of Karachi and essential to prevent future tragedies.
Meanwhile, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said that fire safety audits of six buildings in District South and District East were carried out on the same day.
He urged all building owners to ensure proper fire safety arrangements and to take the matter seriously in order to protect lives and property.
