KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) is allegedly patronizing illegal constructions in the metropolis while the Sindh government has turned a blind eye into this matter.
According to details, Senior Director Anti-Encroachment Bashir Siddiqui has directed the SBCA Lyari to take action against the illegal construction, however, no action has been taken yet.
The construction of multi-story illegal buildings continues in most parts of the city under the patronage of SBCA officers. Areas like Lyari, Gulbahar, Liaquatabad, and Usmanabad are the hub of illegal constructions. Illegal constructions is also rampant in North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Gulberg, Jamshed Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, New Karachi, and Malir Model Colony.
Sources informed that SBCA Acting Director-General Naseem Ghani Saito is also involved in approving six major illegal construction projects in Karachi and received millions of rupees in this regard.
Due to the unserious policies of the Sindh government, the Building Authority has made Karachi a concrete jungle. Meanwhile, Anti-Corruption in Jamshed Town summoned SBCA officers over involvement in illegal construction.
Relevant sources informed that Anti-Corruption had taken action against the absence of officers and raided the building authority office in Jamshed Town. On the other hand, Jamshed Town Deputy Director Ali Asad, Zameer Ayub and Nadeem Shiraz are also accused of illegal constructions.
