ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Rawalpindi.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, matters of bilateral interest, evolving security situation of the region including the Afghanistan peace process and collaboration for regional peace and connectivity were discussed during the meeting.
Assuring Pakistan of unflinching support, the Saudi foreign minister appreciated sincere efforts and role Pakistan played in promoting peace and stability in the region.
COAS Bajwa said that the relations between KSA and Pakistan are based on bonds of brotherhood and mutual trust as both nations will continue to play their part for peace and stability. He thanked Saudi leadership for KSA’s support to Pakistan and its Armed Forces.
Prince Farhan had reached Pakistan on Tuesday on a day-long on the invitation of his counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
A day earlier, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia held delegation-level talks to discuss bilateral matters besides the issues of regional and international importance.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi led the Pakistan side, while his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan represented the delegation of Saudi Arabia.
In his welcome remarks, Foreign Minister Qureshi said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoyed commonalities in their relationship based on religion, culture and history.
Qureshi said the two countries stood by each other in difficult times, adding that Pakistan was committed to the security and solidarity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He lauded the active role played by Saudi Arabia for peace in the region, particularly reducing tension in the Gulf. He expressed gratitude to the government of Saudi Arabia for supporting Pakistan’s stance on India’s illegal act of revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
