Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, announced the launch of the “International Alliance to Implement the Two-State Solution” at the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The alliance aims to address the Palestinian issue and promote peace efforts in the war-torn region.
In his speech, Prince Faisal emphasised the devastating impact of the war on Gaza, citing “tens of thousands of civilians killed, systematic destruction, forced displacement, starvation, incitement, and dehumanization” as unacceptable consequences.
He stressed that “self-defense cannot justify such atrocities”, which are documented in United Nations reports.
The Kingdom’s FM expressed concern over the escalating regional tensions affecting Lebanon and potentially leading to a regional war.
“We are witnessing these days a dangerous regional escalation that affects the Lebanese Republic and leads us to the risk of a regional war that threatens our region and the entire world.”
He urged for an immediate end to the ongoing war and violations of international law, holding accountable those obstructing the peace process.
