SARGODHA: A 20-year-old girl was shot dead in Sargodha today by a suspect named Mohammad Sher, police said.
The deceased, Phulan Shehzadi, was to get married later in the day, according to her family.
The suspect, Mohammad Sher, opened fire on the girl when she was returning home from shopping, police said.
The shooter wanted to marry the girl. However, her parents had arranged her marriage with another man.
Police have rounded up the prime suspect and lodged a murder case against him.
Earlier, a bride was shot during an armed robbery. She was returning to her mother’s home when unidentified gunmen robbed her just outside the house. After looting, the snatchers opened fire on the newlywed bride and left her dead on the roadside. Sources have said that the gunmen had an old rivalry with the bride’s father.
