NEW DELHI: The proposal of the Indian premier Narendra Modi to hold a meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation nations through video conferencing has been accepted by the SAARC.
Pakistan just a few hours later when India proposed the alternate to tackle the novel coronavirus also agreed to the proposal.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Pakistan will be available for the talks to discuss means pandemic that has killed over 5,000 people globally.
In a tweet, the Foreign Ministry wrote, “The threat of #COVID-19 requires coordinated efforts at the global and regional levels. We have communicated that SAPM on Health will be available to participate in the video conference of #SAARC member countries on the issue.”
Moreover, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and other members have also agreed to the proposal made by India.
Apart from Mirza, Narendra Modi, Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Nepalese Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, Bhutanese premier Lotay Tshering, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, will participate in the video conference.
