Himanshu Jangra, who went viral after claiming he expected a woman to “repay” him with physical intimacy following a Rs370 chicken biryani date, has been terminated from his job at Gurugram-based social media and branding firm Starvik Design.
The company’s founder, Vivek Vishwakarma, confirmed that Jangra was dismissed over his “offensive” remarks made during a crowdwork segment at a stand-up show by comedian Pranit More.
The incident stems from a now-deleted video recorded at More’s show, where an audience member, later identified as Jangra, shared a dating anecdote suggesting that spending around Rs370 on a biryani entitled him to something in return.
The clip quickly went viral, triggering widespread criticism across social media and from several influencers.
Following the backlash, Jangra apologized and deactivated his social media account. However, the controversy continued to grow, ultimately leading to his termination from the company.
Comedian Pranit More also issued a public apology on Instagram, saying that the audience member’s comments did not reflect his views.
He added that he should have intervened during the interaction instead of laughing it off, calling it a lapse in judgment.
