Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has announced that visas will be issued once the official schedule for the funeral prayers of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is announced.
According to Araghchi, following the announcement of the funeral and burial arrangements, authorities will assess the capacity to accommodate foreign guests. Subsequently, Iranian embassies around the world will begin issuing entry visas to attendees.
It is worth noting that the official funeral and burial ceremonies in Mashhad have been postponed. Authorities stated that the decision was made out of respect for the holy month of Muharram and to finalize arrangements for the large number of mourners expected to attend.
The Foreign Minister further explained that as soon as the final dates for the funeral ceremonies are officially confirmed and the host cities’ capacity to manage visitors has been evaluated, Iranian embassies worldwide will start processing visa applications and issuing entry permits for participants.
