World-renowned qawwal Nazir Fareedi has passed away after a prolonged illness. He had been under medical treatment for a considerable period, and his condition had reportedly remained critical in recent weeks.
Nazir Fareedi began his artistic journey at the shrine of Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganjshakar in Pakpattan. He was widely admired for his exceptional command of Sufi poetry and spiritual music, which earned him recognition not only in Pakistan but also internationally.
The funeral prayers for the late artist will be offered at the shrine of Baba Farid, where a large number of devotees, artists, and members of the cultural community are expected to attend.
Among his most popular qawwalis were Aa Vi Ja Walay Zulfan Waleya, Mainu Paar Laga Peera, Sare Nabiyan Da, and Ya Moeen Ya Moeen.
Following news of his passing, members of the entertainment industry, fellow artists, and admirers expressed deep sorrow and paid tribute to his invaluable contributions to Sufi music, describing him as a truly great artist.
