ISLAMABAD: Adviser on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has urged the investors to take advantage of the ease in company registration offered by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan to formalize their businesses.
In a series of tweets, Razak Dawood said the registration of companies in Pakistan has increased as a result of reforms in the past two and a half years.
He informed in January this year, a total of 2,201 companies registered themselves with SECP which is up by 12% as compared to the previous month. “This is a healthy trend and the SECP and Board of Investment deserve credit for making this possible.” Razak Dawood added.

The adviser said a total of 20,342 companies registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan during the previous year which is an increase of 24% as compared to 16,456 in 2019.

Earlier, Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment had said that the government is taking concrete steps to ensure Pakistan leverages its geo-economic location in the region to enhance its international trade.
Razak Dawood further said the government’s vision for trade and economic relations with Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics (CARs) is to make Pakistan a center for regional trade, transit and transshipment.
“Our business activities must be based on the secure, open, reliable, trustworthy and legal movement of goods at the Afghanistan border along with better connectivity with Afghanistan and CARs”, the adviser said added.
