ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed has stated that the railway was the most corrupt institution in the country.
The statement of CJP was quoted during the hearing in the railway deficit case filed against Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed in Supreme Court.
A three-member bench headed by CJP Gulzar Ahmed during the hearing remarked that all the records that were submitted by the railway minister were manual instead of computerized.
Justice Gulzar further said that the audit report clearly showed that the railway has a deficit of billions.
According to Justice Gulzar, not a single thing is working properly in Pakistan Railways. The world was moving forward with the bullet trains, and we were traveling by 18th-century train, he remarked.
While criticising the performance of Sheikh Rasheed, the CJP stated that Pakistan Railway was fully failed to upgrade his old 18th-century train system.
