Following Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Peshawar, significant progress has been made towards launching a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Quetta, the provincial capital.
According to officials from the Transport Department, the Balochistan government has decided to launch a modern BRT project in Quetta.
Officials said five foreign companies have expressed interest in conducting the feasibility study for the proposed bus project.
According to authorities, one of the foreign companies will be awarded the contract to conduct the feasibility study. Work on the project will begin after the study is completed and its report is received.
Transport Department officials estimate that the Quetta BRT project will cost more than Rs300 billion and is expected to be completed by 2032.
It should be noted that the Balochistan government had launched the Green and Pink Bus service in Quetta to provide modern, safe, and affordable public transport.
The initial fleet for Quetta includes 17 buses, featuring 5 pink buses reserved exclusively for women and female students for secure travel, and 12 green buses for the general public.
