An attempt to supply modern weapons through online bookings was foiled in Lahore’s Hair area.
During a police checkpoint, officers stopped a suspicious vehicle and recovered six automatic pistols worth millions of rupees, along with hundreds of bullets and cartridges.
According to police, when the suspect was signaled to stop, he put up strong resistance during the arrest but was eventually overpowered.
Police said the arrested suspect, identified as Ahmed Hassan, admitted during interrogation that he had been supplying weapons to different districts through online bookings.
Police added that intelligence-based operations are underway to arrest the suspect’s accomplices. A case has been registered against the suspect, and further investigation is ongoing.
It should be noted that Law enforcement agencies in Pakistan have cracked down on several criminal rings using social media and digital channels to illegally sell and traffic firearms.
These operations typically involve marketing weapons through Facebook and WhatsApp groups, followed by covert delivery via private or informal courier services from tribal and border regions into major urban centers.
