Abdul Qadeer Khan, Fakhr-e-Pakistan and Mohsin-e-Pakistan, is the man who dedicated his life to Pakistan; the man who shattered the nefarious intentions of the enemies; the man who is the pioneer of survival of Pakistan and the inspirer of humanity.
Our dream of becoming a nuclear power may never have been fulfilled but it was the determination of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan due to which the defense of Pakistan has become invincible and the enemy thinks twice to threaten us. Today, not only the entire nation but also the world of Islam is indebted to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.
Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan used to work in the factories of Gujranwala and Karachi along with the labourers and had such a kind and humble temperament that he used to have lunch with all his directors every day. I had the privilege of working with Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for two consecutive years and 8 months.
One evening is not enough to talk about the legacy of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, his memory was enviable. Previously, when I was in Pakistan Army, I was transferred to a place in Karachi where all supplies were done through my signature. At that time, I did not know who Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was but the latter knew me, who signed and supplies the goods by sea.
When India announces and detonates nuclear device, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, who was living a luxurious life in Holland, was disheartened, but later he wrote a letter to the then-government of Pakistan saying that I am the person who can make Pakistan a nuclear power.
After that, not only Pakistan but the whole world witnessed how such an intelligent man made Pakistan’s defence invincible. Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan made valuable sacrifices for the sake of this soil.
Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan will always be remembered by history and humanity and as long as Pakistan stands firm on the world map, the name of Qadeer Khan will be written in golden letters. However, due to certain circumstances such stimuli have been created which have left some marks on our hearts.
When Pakistan detonated a nuclear bomb, we were sitting in KRL and monitoring the situation, calls were coming from all over the world. The world was ready to offer any amount for Dr Qadeer Khan. But later national, regional and international interests came. However, Dr Qadeer Khan said that I did what I had to do.
“If your heart agrees, then I am ready to make a sacrifice,” Qadeer Khan said, and he also made a sacrifice that we all miss. The insightful person was fully aware of the situation so he gladly sacrificed for the country.
