In a shocking incident in Burewala’s Chak 429/EB area, a 13-year-old boy was allegedly shot dead by a farmer for bathing at his private tubewell.
According to police, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Sheikh Fazil Police Station in Vehari district.
As per the FIR filed by the victim’s grandfather, Irshad Ahmed Butt, his grandson Muhammad Zaki had accompanied him on a motorcycle to a nearby tubewell owned by a farmer, Muhammad Tariq.
Several children were already bathing there when Zaki stood nearby. Tariq allegedly arrived at the scene, became enraged, and opened fire despite previous warnings he had issued against using his tubewell for bathing.
Zaki was critically injured and rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Burewala, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police spokesperson Adnan Tariq confirmed that Muhammad Tariq was arrested within three hours of the incident. Postmortem proceedings were underway at the time of reporting.
