Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a Ramadan Nigehban relief package, under which 4.2 million low-income families across the province will receive cash assistance of Rs10,000 each.
According to details, the Punjab government will issue special cards to eligible households under the Ramadan relief initiative, titled the Nigehban Card.
The decision was approved by the chief minister during a meeting focused on public relief measures.
During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz also approved the launch of the CM Ration Card, Nigehban Dastarkhwan, and Sasta Bazaars as part of broader administrative arrangements for Ramadan. District administrations will distribute the Ramadan Nigehban Cards door to door.
To facilitate activation, the provincial government has established 136 activation centres, while the cards can also be activated through Bank of Punjab ATMs. A dedicated Ramadan Nigehban dashboard has been set up to monitor the programme.
A counter-verification system has also been introduced, under which cardholders will be contacted directly to ensure transparency.
The chief minister directed authorities to make payments through the Nigehban Card as simple and accessible as possible.
Additionally, approval was granted to establish eight Nigehban Dastarkhwans—titled “Maryam ke Mehman”—in every tehsil. Under the initiative, daily iftar meals will be provided to 2,000 fasting individuals in each tehsil throughout Ramadan.
