ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered the re-election of the Punjab Chief Minister on July 22.
According to details, in the Supreme Court hearing regarding the Punjab Chief Minister, the Chief Justice ruled that the re-election of the Punjab Chief Minister would be held on July 22.
In a hearing on a recount of votes in the election of Punjab Chief Minister, the Supreme Court summoned Hamza Shahbaz and Speaker of Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi from the video link in the Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice said that a detailed decision would be issued later. However, Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz Sharif will remain until July 22. PTI lawyer Imtiaz Siddiqui told the court that Hamza Shahbaz would remain the Chief Minister till re-election.
“Talks have been held with the Punjab government and if there is an election for the Chief Minister after the by-elections, there is no objection,” the Chief Justice added.
The court remarked that two meetings are going on in the province and what measures have been taken regarding it? To which, the PTI lawyer replied that the assembly session would be the same.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that we will have a relationship like brothers, and there will be a completely different atmosphere in the assembly. To which the Chief Justice remarked he thinks there will be a new tour. “Thank God we were able to resolve the issue with an understanding between the opposition political groups,” he said.
Lawyer Babar Awan said that he has taken instructions from Imran Khan as he wants transparent elections in Punjab without affecting the legitimacy of the government. “Imran Khan wants IG Punjab, Election Commissioner, and Chief Secretary Punjab to abide by the law,” he said.
He said that the caretaker Chief Minister would not issue any such order or directive. “The caretaker Chief Minister will not do anything that will affect the election. No development funds will be used,” he maintained.
