Senior party figures Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Asad Umar have voluntarily opted to turn themselves in to the authorities as PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has announced launching the party’s ‘jail bharo’ movement from tomorrow (Feb 22).
Talking to reporters, Fawad said that all preparations are completed in this regard, adding that the movement will start from Lahore before expanding to other major cities.
The PTI Vice Chairman Qureshi and PTI Secretary General Umar have announced voluntary surrendering before the law enforcers, Fawad added.
He once again accused the government of trying to delay the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Fawad said that his party had started preparations for elections after the president’s announcement.
The announcement comes days after PTI Chief Imran Khan said that his party was launching the movement for ‘Haqeeqi azadi’ and urged the people to overcome their fear of going to jail.
“The opponents were still trying to threaten us, but nobody could make us afraid of jails,” he added.
Meanwhile, PTI Lahore chapter President Imtiaz Shaikh announced that former Punjab governor Omer Sarfraz Cheema, Waleed Iqbal, Murad Raas, Muhammad Khan Madni, and Fawad Rasool, accompanied by 200 workers will voluntarily surrender themselves to the authorities in the metropolis tomorrow.
“Jail Bharo Tehreek” will begin from Lahore`s Charing Cross at 2 pm, he added.
