Chief Organizer of PTI Punjab, Aliya Hamza, has been arrested in Rawalpindi, as reported by national media.
According to a report by national media on Friday, Aliya Hamza had arrived at Noorani Mohalla to address a workers’ convention, where she was arrested and transferred to the Women Police Station.
Meanwhile, a statement posted on PTI South Punjab’s X account said that Aliya Hamza had been arrested, and both she and party workers were shifted to Civil Lines Police Station, Rawalpindi.
According to the post, before her arrest, the Chief Organizer Punjab said, “We have gathered here peacefully, and I just want to speak for 10 minutes, but the police arrested me ‘illegally”.
Police have taken PTI leader Aliya Hamza into custody. A report citing sources stated that PTI worker Shamim Aftab was also detained along with Aliya Hamza.
Aliya Hamza, along with eight PTI workers, has been transferred to Civil Lines Police Station. A large number of PTI workers are present outside the Civil Lines Police Station. According to PTI leader Seemabia Tahir, there was a youth convention in Rawalpindi today, from where Aliya Hamza was arrested.
Seemabia Tahir stated that five workers were shifted to Airport Police Station, while Aliya Hamza is being kept at the Women Police Station. “Protesting or holding a convention is our constitutional right, and we have not done anything against the law.” She added.
