After dispersing from D-Chowk as a result of a police crackdown, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters began vandalizing different areas of Islamabad and setting trees on fire at multiple locations on Wednesday morning.
In a viral video, flames can be seen rising from the top of a tall date tree on Jinnah Avenue, while several protesters are present, speaking in Pashto and enjoying the sight of the burning tree. The avenue is also littered with garbage.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar strongly condemns the attack on media houses, saying that the PTI protesters have “ran away” from the protest site leaving behind vehicles, footwear, and clothes.
Addressing a presser at D-Chowk, he said that the PTI planned to target government personalities, posted in important positions.
PTI leadership announced on Wednesday that the protest in Islamabad, which began three days ago on November 24, has now been called off.
The announcement comes after the party’s protesters were dispersed from the Red Zone in Islamabad following a crackdown by law enforcers with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi taking to their heels, fleeing the protest site.
The PTI’s central media cell issued a press release on Wednesday, saying, “In light of the government’s brutality and plans to turn the federal capital into a “slaughterhouse” for unarmed citizens, we are announcing the temporary suspension of our peaceful protest.”
The former ruling party said that it would announce the future course of action in the light of guidance from party founder Imran Khan.
