The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has issued a formal advisory after taking notice of public complaints regarding the illegal and unauthorised activation of value-added services (VAS).
According to a PTA spokesperson, some mobile users reported that VAS had been activated on their numbers without their consent.
The authority has clarified that no such service may be enabled without explicit customer approval. Verification through a one-time password (OTP) has now been made mandatory for all VAS activations.
The advisory states that no service can be activated without sharing the OTP, and any unauthorised activation will be deemed unacceptable. Mobile users have been urged to exercise caution when dealing with suspicious links or unnecessary service offers.
In cases of unexplained charges, consumers are advised to contact their respective mobile operators immediately. Users may also lodge complaints through the PTA’s Complaint Management System.
The spokesperson added that the authority remains committed to safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring transparency within the telecommunications sector.
(Cont’d): If the matter is not resolved satisfactorily, you may lodge a complaint with PTA through the Complaint Management System (CMS) available athttps://t.co/34yO7fmeGD or via the CMS Mobile App.
