Buying interest returned to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index climbing over 900 points in early trading.

At 11:43am, the benchmark index stood at 180,794.38, up 947.70 points, or 0.53%.

Positive momentum was seen across key sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertiliser, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies (OMCs) and power generation. Index-heavy stocks such as HUBCO, MARI, POL, PPL, HBL, OGDC, and UBL traded in positive territory.

On Tuesday, the PSX faced renewed selling pressure amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty, rising crude oil prices and fading hopes of a near-term US-Iran agreement.

The benchmark index closed at 179,846.68, down 1,463.60 points, or 0.81%.

Meanwhile, oil prices rose on Wednesday as uncertainty over a potential US-Iran peace deal and attacks on two ships heightened concerns over disruptions to Middle Eastern supplies, despite industry data showing an increase in US crude inventories.

Brent futures rose 72 cents, or 0.81%, to $89.63 a barrel by 0053 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained 71 cents, or 0.85%, to $83.91.
