KARACHI: The second match of Pakistan Super League 2021 will be played on Sunday afternoon between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi at Karachi’s National Stadium.
Led by Sohail Akhtar, the Lahore Qalandars will enter the field confidently and will look to continue the momentum from the previous edition. Although, the Qalandars will lack the psychological advantage against Zalmi since they have won only three matches out of the 11 PSL games played between the two sides so far. Peshawar, on the other hand, has won eight games against the Qalandars.
Peshawar Zalmi were vagued on selecting a stand-in captain to replace right-arm quickie Wahab Riaz, who will miss the team’s first match of the tournament after being sent to isolation following an unintentional breach of the bio-secure bubble.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on late Friday night confirmed that a player had tested positive for Covid-19. He had earlier shown symptoms of the novel coronavirus and stayed in isolation, the board said.
“He will now remain in quarantine for 10 days and will require two negative tests in order to integrate again with the side in accordance with the applicable re-entry protocols,” PCB said in a press statement.

Captain of Pakistan’s national squad and Karachi Kings’ opener Babar Azam had become the highest run-scorer in the history of the Pakistan Super League.
The Kings made quick work of the 122-run target set by the Gladiators with Joe Clarke scoring 46 runs off 23 balls before being dismissed in the sixth over.
The Gladiators had managed to score 121 runs in 19.2 overs. The Kings started off strong by dismissing both Sarfaraz Ahmed and Tom Banton early in the game.
Saim Ayub, who made his T20 debut, fell in the eighth over, adding an equal number of runs to the scoreboard. Chris Gayle, dubbed the “T20 superstar”, met his downfall in the ninth over. Gayle scored 39 runs.
