ISLAMABAD: A prayer leader and two others were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Bhara Kahu area of the federal capital.
Police said the prayer leader has been identified as Mufti Akram. His 13-year-old son Habib was also killed in the attack along with one of his students named Samiullah.
Police said the three of them were killed after being shot multiple times. The gunmen opened fire at Siddique Al-Akbar Madrassa located in Bhara Kahu in which the prayer leader and two others were severely injured and later succumbed to their wounds.
Police reached the scene of the incident and shifted the bodies to a hospital for autopsy while an investigation is underway. The deceased was also a local leader Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI). The party had decided to protest over the prayer leader’s killing, adding that no FIR has been registered despite the passage of several hours.
