KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced to hold a power show on October 17 to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Karsaz bombing incident.
The rally, being held to remember the martyrs of October 18 incident, will be held in Jinnah Garden near the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam. PPP leaders including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address the political gathering.
The party has written to Deputy Commissioner East seeking permission for the rally and use of loudspeaker. The workers of the party have been urged to strictly follow coronavirus-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The Karsaz attack occurred on 18 October 2007 on a convoy carrying former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. At least 180 people were killed and 500 injuries in the incident.
Meanwhile, PPP Karachi chapter has announced the postponement of its protest rally earlier scheduled for Sunday (today) against the federal government’s policies targeting the people of Sindh.
The announcement was made by Sindh Information and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani, who is also the PPP Karachi president. He said the decision was made due to the passing away of comedian Umer Sharif.
The protest march was scheduled to start at 2PM today at the Peoples Secretariat near the Mazar-e-Quaid and was supposed to end at the Parking Plaza. Saddar.
The PPP had planned the march against the issues of unemployment, price-hike, gas and power shortage in the province. Ghani said the new time and date of the rally would be announced later.
