LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) today (Tuesday) have reportedly agreed to resign from the National Assembly, according to sources.
According to details, the development came after repeated contact between PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and the PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, in which Sharif convinced Zardari to resign from the NA as part of an anti-government move.
Meanwhile, today’s meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is said to be important as the PML-N has finalised its strategy against the government. The PML-N will suggest the PDM huddle to announce the date of the long march in Lahore’s public rally, scheduled on December 13.
The heads of all constituent parties of the opposition alliance will attend the session of PDM in Islamabad today, while former president Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif will ensure their presence via the video link.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, after recent negative reports of the virus, is also expected to attend the meeting. PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz will also attend the opposition meeting.
Talking to journalists today (Tuesday), before leaving for Islamabad to attend the much-awaited PDM leadership meeting, Maryam Nawaz said that FIRs did not have any value as the government would soon have to go.
The PML-N vice president pointed out that the people were tired of inflation and joblessness and were looking towards the alliance and Nawaz Sharif as a messiah. “The government is frightened by the PDM rally in Lahore scheduled for December 13,” she remarked.
