KARACHI: The power supply has not been restored in many areas of Karachi after five days of the rain.

The power has been suspended in various areas of Lyari since Saturday while several areas of Defence are also without power. The power outages are also going on in Gulistan-e-Johar’s Block-19, Gulshan’s 13-D, and Gulzar-e-Hijri.

Different areas of New Karachi and Surjani Town are also without electricity. Areas of Gulshan-e-Buner, Quaidabad, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Korangi, and Landhi are also affected.

The areas of Baldia are also without power as it has also been cut off in Kemari, and Mazdoor Colony. Electricity is also suspended in different sectors of Sultanabad, Orangi Town.

K-Electric in this regard said that the power supply has been cut off due to lack of drainage in the substations. Due to the flood situation in Karachi, K Electric has extended the deadline for consumers to submit their electricity bills.

Drainage work in Karachi could not be completed even after five days of torrential rains and various electric stations have been shut down due to flooding. “Protecting the lives of the people and staff is our number one priority,” said Monis Alvi, K Electric’s chief executive officer (CEO). Electricity cannot be restored as long as the water is stored in power stations.
