RAWALPINDI: The police have arrested 13 alleged gamblers in a crackdown against anti-social elements in Rawalpindi.
During the raid, the police recovered betting money amounting to Rs 104780, seven mobile phones and other valuable items their possession. A man named Waris Khan tipped off the police to which the police conducted a raid.
The 13 alleged gamblers are identified as Saleem, Shehbaz, Pervaiz, Faisal Tanveer, Sajjid, Raisat, Anil Sajjad, Iqbal including four transgender Laila Ali, Sana, Meesha and Gul Naz. The police have registered separate cases against them under the gambling act and started an investigation.
The City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas appreciated the performance of the police for arresting the gamblers adding that strict action must be taken against anti-social elements.
Earlier, a cleric named Khalil-ur-Rehman who was accused of raping an 11-year-old minor girl in Rawalpindi. He used to teach the victim the Holy Quran at her home, her parents revealed.
According to the parents of the victim, the accused was sexually abusing their daughter lately. It was revealed a few days ago by the girl herself revealed that the cleric was behaving oddly with her.
Meanwhile, the police shifted the girl to the District Hospital for medical and then filed a case against the accused while the accused escaped after the incident.
The suspect has later traced the suspect through his mobile’s location and he was promptly arrested by the police.
